VJ Kriel
One of the world’s foremost creators of live video montage, VJ Kriel
will be playing the heart of the UK’s contemporary dance space, The
Place, London.
The five-minute live screen work by Kriel will feature as part of The Place’s
involvement with "Dance On Screen 2002," the internationally
reputed, annual contemporary dance and film commissioning festival. The
piece will see Kriel work with dancers early in the evening, record them
and screen a live-remixed version later in the day.
VJ Kriel’s extraordinary life and career has embraced the circus,
multi-media programming, visual art (including artist-in-residence at Radio
1) and VJing alongside the likes of Norman Cook and Pete Tong. He says, "I
acknowledge the potential for fusing fine arts and popular culture, but
I have to admit that even when I’m working on something very serious,
in the back of my mind there’s a circus clown saying ‘let me
entertain you".
