Universal Pictures has shaped global culture for generations, acting as the bridge between visionary storytellers and the audiences who celebrate them.
We were tasked with one of our most ambitious projects to date: a complete reimagining of UniversalPictures.com. Not just a website refresh; but the creation of a cohesive, single-source platform for the US market that would multiple audiences including; moviegoers, press, and investors alike.
The mission was to build a digital ecosystem that could honor a century of cinematic legacy — from the 'Kings of the Movies' era of 1931, to the cultural phenomenon that is Wicked, all whilst providing a future-proof foundation for the studio’s next generation of stories.
We developed a minimalist, editorial ""Universally Brilliant"" design to transform a corporate hub into an immersive, experiential destination for fans worldwide, elevataing the iconic Universal brand identity whilst allowing individual film titles to shine.
Integrating industry-leading UX, each user interaction felt premium and intuitive. At the heart of the site’s functionality, we introduced 'worlds-first' features, such as a dynamic showtimes header powered by Powster Showtimes API which included a scrolling movie ticker; providing real-time theater information directly on the studio homepage.
Behind the scenes, we developed a custom sophisticated CMS. To this day, this automation tool handles everything from updating release messaging to moving titles between carousels based on their theatrical window; replacing fragmented workflows with an intuitive platform which empowers Universal’s global teams to create, localise, and launch pages in minutes, ensuring the site works as hard as the films it represents.

A year in the making, the new UniversalPictures.com marked a significant milestone in the long-standing partnership between Powster, Vista Group, and Universal Pictures. The launch has successfully consolidated multiple needs into a single-vendor solution, drastically reducing costs and introducing unprecedented efficiency across international teams.
The global rollout is now live in the US, with over 15 international launches scheduled to follow — all featuring full localisation capabilities. By automating core site functions and providing a flexible, easy-to-use CMS, we have freed the Universal team from manual updates, allowing them to focus on what they do best: amplifying the theatrical experience.
